Swedish

Massage oil or cream is used with smooth, gliding strokes. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. It is a classic massage that will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation.

Therapeutic/Deep Tissue

Deep tissue techniques are designed to remove severe tension. Specific tissue manipulation is used to stimulate, circulate and release knots in both muscle and connective tissues below the surface. In turn helping to improve range of motion and heal injuries. These sessions are designed to target a specific part of the body, and may not address the whole body in one session.

TMJ

TMJ (temporal mandibular joint) a.k.a. the jaw joint. TMJ dysfunction can cause headaches, neck and mouth pain, chewing/swallowing issues, etc. In a TMJ session we will work on the inside and outside of the mouth, around the face, head, neck, shoulders, back, hips and feet. Each care plan is formulated based on your needs and discomfort.

Cupping

Is used in conjunction with massage to provide suction on the tissues to improve: grip of the muscles and release tension, increase blood flow, move fluids.

Scraping (Gua Sha)

Scraping or Gua Sha is a technique used via a tool to help release bound fascial/muscle tissue. This is used in conjunction with regular massage to treat specific areas of concern.

This technique can result in soreness and some bruising.

Hot Stone Therapy

Smooth stones are heated and applied to the skin with lubrication. The therapeutic effects of heat are used to relax muscles at a deeper level. Used as an extension of the therapist’s hands, the use of massage stones induces deep relaxation and provides a unique experience many find to be tremendously calming and centering.

Emma is a licensed and dedicated massage therapist with a passion for the human body and a wealth of experience in wellness and movement. With a background in teaching movement in water for children and adults and holding two degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Sciences and Dietetics, Emma brings exceptional knowledge and expertise to her practice. Transitioning from a successful career as a swim coach, she is now focused on helping clients achieve their wellness goals on land. Emma is eager to apply her skills to support the well-being of her clients through massage therapy.

FAQ

  • No helping.
    I am here for you. I will move you/your limbs in any way that is required. I will only ask for you to do something in a therapeutic session when we have a specific goal to address.

  • We will discuss your needs prior to each session.
    You will undress only to the level of your comfort.
    You will be draped with sheets and blankets according to ethical state standards.

  • Massage can sometimes be uncomfortable, and yes, at times painful.
    During specific sessions I will guide you through the process of everything we are doing to release your body’s discomforts and provide relief

  • The body stores emotions in weird ways. When working the tissues of the body we can release tension related to certain emotions, trauma, and physical accidents. You may cry, laugh, get angry, etc... Know you are in a safe space for releasing all your life stressors and we will pause or end our session based on your needs.

  • Massage can impact: Blood pressure, blood sugar, and urine output.
    You may sometimes feel sore or have light bruising after.
    Bodily functions are normal. Everyone has them. No Worries! If you need to go to the bathroom mid session I will have a robe for you to utilize.

  • TMJ sessions are designated to work that areas related to the temporal mandibular joint (TMJ) AKA jaw joint.
    During these sessions I will be working inside/outside the mouth and around the face, head, neck, chest, back, glutes, hips and feet. Please let me know if you are not comfortable with touch in any of these areas.
    TMJ work is uncomfortable and we will discuss a pain scale and signal to stop if needed.

  • Refer 3 new friends and get your next massage FREE! They must mention your name when they book their massage.

  • Minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule without penalty.

    Full service amount will be charged for same day cancelations or no shows.

    No refunds are given at this time.

  • On antibiotics/antivirals.
    Open sores/acne/shingles.
    Skin rash/staph infection/etc.
    Tattooed w/in last 14 days.
    1st trimester of Pregnancy (unfortunately I do not offer any prenatal massage).
    Post op (must have clearance from doc).

  • HYDRATE. HYDRATE. HYDRATE.
    DO NOT take any medications 2 hours prior.
    Eat light 2 hours prior.

  • HYDRATE.
    Keep Moving: walk, swim, bicycle, yoga, etc.
    Exercise = movement= healing & repair.
